Celebration! 12 Months of Consistent Creation. Thank you! [VIDEO]

A little over a year ago I was on a flight returning to Denver, tenaciously typing out a 12 month, bi-weekly content calendar with the intention of posting four times a month in 2015. I remember thoughtfully planning what I wanted to cover, how I wanted the posts to flow and when I wanted to post.  I picked the Hashtag "#TotallyTrendyTuesday" to use as a way of categorizing all of the trends and topics to support leadership in the fitness and wellness space. And I created #WakeUpWednesday to bundle my posts focused on tools for leaders choosing to explore ways to be more emotionally intelligent and AWAKEN their lives.  Today I celebrate that completion. For the past twelve months I have followed that calendar, stayed consistent and published what I said I was going to! I want to thank two people specifically: Bryan O'Rourke for his inspiration for blogging in the first place. In 2011 he taught me to blog and I began writing; without him I never would have done this! And Amy Schmittauer: she helped me envision a content calendar and demonstrated that it is possible to stick to a plan and execute content week after week.  I feel excited about what 2016 has in store and the content I will be creating.  The new calendar is well under way - stay tuned!

#TotallyTrendyTuesday Club Industry is Next Week!

Will you be at Club Industry?

I will be speaking Thursday Morning 8:15am 10/8 CLICK here to RSVP

The fitness industry is always changing, and the most glaring and recent changes are the impact technology has had on the way consumers interact in health clubs. As apps, wearables and other tech devices canvas the market, the question remains: how will integration happen? How can health club owners and equipment manufacturers co-create a new in-club experience that enhances the member experience? The average person who joins a health club now has access to health and fitness apps and devices outside of the club. That being the case, how can clubs work with the user experience, finding creative ways to enhance the human connection by using technology to do so? Tech does not rob us of the human connection; it actually enhances it. Attendees of this session will be empowered to enhance their club environment to meet and exceed member satisfaction through the use of technology enhancements, making it easier and more exciting than ever for their members to work out in a health club.

Please let me know if you plan to attend, I would love to meet you in person!

Cheers,

Lindsey

ClassPass Puts Consumers in the Drivers Seat! #TotallyTrendyTuesday

Over the past decade consumer choices have changed tremendously around how to join a Health Club.  In the old days, health club memberships were sold in small closing offices with big contracts, often scary closing pitches and a no way out clause.  Thank goodness those days are over, the softer and friendlier "month to month" agreements are now in place, but now an even more progressive consumer controlled way of joining clubs has come along.

Check out ClassPass, if you have not already heard of this show stopper of a platform, check it out!

"For $79, you'll have your pick of classes to choose from, including cycling, yoga, Pilates, barre, strength training, bootcamp, dance, and so much more. Plus, we’re adding new studios and classes each and every week.
Commitment not your thing? Cancel anytime". -ClassPass

I am not the only one talking about the platform, visionary Bryan O'Rourke had this to say.

"Technology is creating a tsunami of business model innovation and Class Pass is but one example. Competitors in the health club and fitness space should prepare for the opportunities and threats that are arising because significant change is upon us all. We have certainly entered a new era". -Bryan O'Rourke

I could not agree more with what Bryan is saying here! the traditional health club membership model is changing significantly. As consumers are more and more empowered to have what they want when they want it, as an industry we are going to continue to see consumers create the reality of the market.

What do you think, how will classpass and membership models like this impact our industry?

The Sky is the Limit: You Can Literally achieve your Fitness Goals from Anywhere.

Freedom!

To exercise from your living room and have an interactive experience just as if you were at your neighborhood gym!

I am highly fascinated with the ways that technology is enhancing our day to day lives, technology allows us to be more connected than ever in very savvy and conscious ways.

One of my favorite ways technology is demonstrating this said connectivity is through virtual delivery fitness experiences.  I write about this topic often and am very much in favor of people joining our industry and becoming wellness consumers.  Virtual offerings are bringing new people to the industry and expanding our reach into new places creating more healthy lives!

I have compiled a list of virtual fitness platforms that any person that owns a smart phone, tablet or computer can access and have a fitness experience from their living room.

1. Wello Workouts allow you to pick when and where you want to workout and all you need is a webcam and internet to get started.  A personal training will walk you through your workout through a live video stream and since they can see you it acts much like an in person training session.  They also offer group to join so you can cheer on teammates! A totally fun way to get moving from home with hands on support.

2. Fitocracy offers private coaching covering fitness assessment, nutritional plan, workouts and accountability.  Based only our goals you scan through and select a trainer that fits best with your desired results.  From there it is an easy process of connecting with your coach and creating your plan! I personally love the look and feel of this platform.

3. Daily Burn comes in all shapes and sizes! After you choose your desired results and times per week you would like to workout, you are assigned a program and trainer that will help you achieve your goals! I love that Daily Burn offers heart rate monitors that can be synced with the workouts so you can see what your heart rate is and the trainer can coach you per your HR.

4. Bodee Fit offers workouts you can do without equipment! With custom training packages ranging in between 4-12 weeks you can get your tailor maid workout with them! They have other training packages available and do a great job of explaining what online coaching/training is and if it is right for you.

The elevation of the human connection with technology as the vehicle allows for breakthrough new ways to get fit and stay fit. Do you use a virtual/online workout platform?

I welcome feedback and would love to hear what's working for you!
